Designerly Perspective

This project essay discusses the designs “Pleasure Measurer” and “Cooking Mate”, designed as IoT devices to explore rich interactions in a growing systems approach. Firstly, we discuss the challenge of combining two core functionalities in a modular approach to promote unique emergent functionalities. Secondly, we address how a multiple user scenario might challenge the connection between use- & technology parameters. Third we consider how prototyping affordances in form was challenged by the number of materials. Finally, we consider the dynamism of centrality when designing artifacts that shift in levels of distribution.
